Progress

Construction on the Cimarron Athletic Field began in early March, with FCI Constructors, based in Durango, as the general contractor. The asphalt base for the track has been poured (please see adjacent photo) and we expect the track surface and field turf to be installed in mid-July, with completion of the facility by late August, weather permitting.

We look forward to having our first home soccer game in six years in September, as well as the first track meet in the history of Ouray, San Miguel, and San Juan counties.

Representatives of the Ouray School District present a $100,000 contribution to the Ridgway School District in support of the Cimarron Athletic Field project. The Ouray School District will enjoy shared access to the facility for 10 years (or until the next track resurfacing). An intergovernmental agreement is in place, ensuring that athletic directors from both districts will coordinate shared use of the Cimarron Athletic Field for the track and cross-country seasons.
